Yesterday, Tennessee House Majority Leader William Lamberth and Senate Finance Chair Bo Watson introduced HB793/SB836. If passed, it would violate the constitutional right of all children, regardless of immigration status, to access a free, public K-12 education.

This is going to be a long fight, but here's how you can take a first action today. Use this form to email your legislator to let them know that you oppose this attempt to strip Tennessee students of their freedom to learn. Are you a parent, teacher, administrator, or student? Customize the message to tell your story about why you support education for all students!

We send our children off to school each day knowing that their right to an education, their freedom to learn, is protected and secure because the Supreme Court has long made it clear that public education belongs to all of us. But now, they are trying to take that freedom from our students based on who they are and how they came to call Tennessee home.

Together with our members and educators across the state, we will continue to fight for our children's freedom to learn and for our vision of a Tennessee where everyone can belong and thrive.
